PANORAMIC Trial

Over the past year the Partnership, along with many other GP Practices across the UK have been taking part in the “Platform Adaptive trial of Novel antivirals for early treatment of covid-19 In the Community (PANORAMIC)” trial which rapidly assesses a range of purpose-designed antiviral treatments which could help clinically vulnerable people with COVID-19 in the community recover sooner, prevent the need for hospital admission and ease the burden on the NHS.

These antiviral treatments are intended for use in the very early stages of infection, by people in the community with COVID-19 who are at higher risk of complications. Anyone who meets the eligibility criteria can sign-up to take part in the study. Individuals can join the study directly if:

  • You are currently experiencing COVID-19 symptoms beginning in the last 5 days; AND
  • You have had a positive PCR or Lateral Flow test for COVID-19; AND
  • You are aged 50 or over, or aged 18 or over with a listed (www.panoramictrial.org/participant-information) pre-existing condition (also listed below)

Listed pre-existing conditions being:

  • Chronic Respiratory disease (including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis and asthma requiring at least daily use of preventative and/or reliever medication)
  • Chronic heart or vascular disease
  • Chronic Kidney Disease
  • Chronic Liver Disease
  • Chronic neurological disease (including dementia, stroke, epilepsy)

  • Morbid obesity (BMI > 35)
