Castle Partnership is continuing to operate to provide primary care services to all our patients from our Tuckswood and Gurney sites. Mile End Road Surgery is clinically closed, however some vulnerable members of practice staff as well as some hospital staff are working from the Mile End Road building.
During the current COVID-19 pandemic we are working in a very different way from previously. All requests for medical advice are being received either through the website, or by telephone request. The only face-to-face appointments occurring are those considered necessary after telephone triage by a clinician, or nurse appointments for immunisations, cervical smears, dressings and essential blood tests. Routine chronic disease annual reviews, health checks and medication reviews are currently on hold as advised by the government.
It is very important that significant new symptoms are not neglected during the COVID crisis including those that might indicate an underlying cancer. We would encourage you to make contact with us if you are concerned by alarm symptoms including the following: breast lump, unexplained weight loss, change in bowel habit, blood in the urine, coughing up blood, bleeding after the menopause.
Also other symptoms such as increased shortness of breath and chest pains which could indicate underlying heart disease should be assessed by a clinician. If a visit to the surgery is required for assessment, please be assured that we are extremely conscious of the need to prevent transmission of COVID and strict infection control measures are being employed.
We are not seeing patients with possible COVID symptoms at our surgeries as special arrangements have been seen for such patients to be seen in separate facilities in the city.
