Health and Safety Policy Statement

Castle Partnership recognises and accepts its duty of care under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated health and safety legislation to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of its employees, and others who may be affected by its activities, including patients, contractors, visitors, service users and members of the public.

Castle Partnership is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment across all of its premises and services. We will ensure that health and safety is managed as an integral part of our day-to-day operations and decision-making.

We are committed to:

• Providing the necessary funds, equipment, facilities and resources to maintain appropriate standards of health, safety and welfare.

• Ensuring that all premises, plant, equipment and systems of work are maintained in a safe condition and meet applicable legal standards.

• Providing appropriate information, instruction, training and supervision so that staff are competent, confident and able to carry out their duties safely.

• Ensuring that suitable arrangements are in place to access competent health and safety advice and support where required.

• Providing safe systems of work and safe working environments for employees, contractors, visitors, patients and service users.

We will:

• Carry out and regularly review suitable and sufficient risk assessments to identify hazards, evaluate risks and implement effective control measures.

• Take reasonable steps to eliminate hazards where possible, and where this is not possible, reduce risks so far as is reasonably practicable.

• Plan, prioritise and complete any corrective or preventive actions identified through risk assessments, audits, inspections, incidents, near misses or other monitoring activities.

• Consult and engage with employees and, where applicable, their representatives on health and safety matters.

• Encourage open communication, reporting of hazards, unsafe conditions, incidents and near misses, and staff contributions towards improving health and safety performance.

• Monitor, review and continually improve our health and safety management arrangements to ensure ongoing legal compliance and good practice.

• Review this policy statement at least annually, or sooner where there are significant organisational changes, changes in legislation, or following a serious incident or identified concern.

All employees have a duty to:

• Take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.

• Co-operate with Castle Partnership in all matters relating to health and safety.

• Follow all health and safety policies, procedures, training and instructions provided for their safety and the safety of others.

• Report any hazards, unsafe conditions, incidents or near misses without delay.

• Use equipment, substances and systems of work safely and in accordance with training and instructions.

This policy statement is supported by Castle Partnership’s wider health and safety arrangements, risk assessments, procedures and guidance.
